We would like to inform all our valued member-consumers that the National Power Corporation (NPC) will implement its new basic rate starting March 2009 billing period in the Visayas after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved a provisional increase in the basic generation rate of NPC on February 16, 2009.

The ERC provisionally authorized the NPC to increase its basic rate by an average of PhP1.1460/kWh for Visayas.

With the adjustment, NPC's new average basic rate is PhP4.0339/kWh for Visayas, effective NPC's 26 February 2009 to 25 March 2009 billing period. AKELCO is one of the end-users in the Visayas that purchased electricity to the state-owned power corporation.

Automatically, AKELCO will be implementing the said NPC rate starting their March 2009 billing period by passing on to all the AKELCO member-consumers. This will be included on AKELCO’s April Billing period.
